Breast Cancer in Men

This October, Midtown Bail Bonds stands with you in the fight for a cure to end breast cancer.  Most of the time breast cancer is focused on finding and treating the disease in women. However, men suffer from breast cancer as well. This year over 2,000 men in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer. We will lose an average of 400 fathers, husbands, sons, brothers, and friends this year to breast cancer.

Men are able to feel for lumps the same as women, since there is not a lot of breast tissue in men; it is easier to feel for lumps. Also pay special attention to irregularity on the skin and nipples. Look for signs of redness, scaliness, and puckering. These signs should be looked at by a doctor to determine the stage of cancer, if any at all.

Most commonly doctors used the TNM system to describe the stage of cancer detected.

TNM is an abbreviation for (TUMOR, T) (NODE, N) (MESTATASIS, M)

The TNM method is used to determine several factors. How large is the primary TUMOR? Has the TUMOR spread to the lymph NODES? If so how many NODES are involved? Has the cancer MESTASTASIZED to other parts of the body?

The results are combined to determine the sage of cancer in each person. There are 5 stages, the first is 0(zero) which is a noninvasive ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS). Stages 1 through 4 are used to invasive breast cancer.

To keep the fight going scientist and doctors are researching to develop new surgical methods that save tissue or prevent scarring. They are striving to find improved radiation therapy to lower the risk of side effects of therapy.

Midtown Bail Bonds understands the life changing events that occur when breast cancer enters the picture. As a community we should all stand in love together and find ways to make the simpler things more meaningful with each day we are gifted.
